What is Class Dojo?

ClassDojo is a free classroom management tool that teachers can use to provide students with visual feedback on behavior with just one click.  In addition to reinforcing positive behaviors, ClassDojo also automatically logs data on behavior and creates student behavior reports that teachers can share with parents and administrators.  Teachers in our member districts are trying it out and using the reports at IEP meetings to share behavior strengths and areas of improvement with parents. So far, we've heard positive things about the tool and wanted to pass along the idea!

Finalizing paperwork in SpEd Forms is an important step in the due process process!   Not only does it ensure that your paperwork is archived and can’t be typed over by a future case manager, but it also allows us to run important reports and get up to date information regarding the services you are providing.  If you have any questions about how to finalize paperwork, please contact your school psychologist or Unique Learner’s Manager.

Corrective Action Plans (CAPs) are currently being implemented in all 6 member districts as part of MDE compliance monitoring.  We will be working on these throughout the year and had our first round of file reviews last week.  If one of your files was pulled, you will receive an email from either your school psychologist or Unique Learners’ Manager with any feedback.  We are excited to see how our paperwork and compliance monitoring results change after the compliance focus at ULC this fall and all your hard work since! Thanks for your work in helping us meet Special Education compliance expectations.  We enjoy working with you as we learn together!

Welcome back to a new school year!   It always amazes me how quickly summer flies by.  You'd think we'd get used to time passing so quickly but every year September creeps right up on me.  We'd like to introduce you to our new blog for the 2012-2013 school year.  We hope that this space can provide the following:
  1. An efficient way to communicate updates of which all case managers need to be aware.
  2. Timely updates.  Even if a department meeting is a few weeks away, we can share information and engage in conversation.
  3. A place to engage in dialogue regarding special education requirements.  Feel free to ask questions or post comments!
  4. A searchable repository of updates.  How many times do you think, now what did I do with X piece of paper I got at the last department meeting?  Or the one 6 months ago...  This blog will allow you to search for a specific tag or topic so you can have just-in-time information.

As you become familiar with the blog, I recommend subscribing to the email updates (right side of the page).  This will result in you receiving an email every time the blog is updated and will save you time from having to visit the blog regularly without knowing that there's a new post waiting.

We will update the blog as often as we have information to share.  If you have questions, please feel free to post them or ask your Unique Learner's Manager or Special Education Director.  We look forward to seeing you soon and to another successful year!

Best,
Sarah Brown
