August 2022: Collaboration and "Breadcrumbs"

Data Institute 2022: Hinckley Elementary teamOur professional learning opportunities this August were designed to maximize collaborative work time + provide educators with "breadcrumbs" that they can use to find useful resources and answers to questions in the thick of the school year.

We're always learning and growing as an organization, and as we prepared for August 2022 we knew that August can be very overwhelming for educators, particularly those who are new to their roles / schools.

We talked explicitly about scaling back how much we "throw" at people, saying out loud "we don't expect you to leave today as an expert in this content," and instead giving people ample time to explore useful resources that they can come back to later when they need them.

Data Institute in early August was a great example of this. Schools teams spent nearly 70% of the day collaborating together to get things done and apply learning. As a result, our schools are heading into the school year with a game plan ready to go. Exciting!
