SCRED School Psych Katie Langer and her SpEd team at NBAMS have been doing some creative problem solving 🧠to wrestle with one of the toughest tasks in education: meeting individual students’ needs within the master schedule. 👷💪When students with IEPs need extra life skills teaching but not enough to need a daily class (losing an elective), they’re now participating in meaningful groups during advisory time. Because the middle school’s CORE life skills teaching happens outside of advisory, these students don’t lose out on that teaching either. 🙌
Here’s an example of special education teacher Nick Pawlik using the School-Connect curriculum to teach life skills to his 6th graders! 👏 It’s such a joy to celebrate the heart and brain power that Katie and her team devoted to making these thoughtful adjustments in order to help kids.
