In Kyle Allen's class at Pine City HS, students are asked to write a letter to a government official on a topic of their choice. Peyton St. Germain chose to write to Ms. Sonia Smith, at the Minnesota Department of Education. Peyton shared how important it is to make sure PCHS's general education teachers are prepared to support students receiving special education services.
Peyton advocated for increased opportunities during teacher preparation programs and CEU classes to learn more about special education. Staff at MDE were so impressed by Peyton's letter that they came to PCHS to recognize her work and share steps they are taking to address some of the concerns Peyton raised. Dragon pride!
