Mentoring

Our mentoring program is critical to the success and retention of certified staff. Mentors and mentees participate in scheduled check-ins, informal day-to-day contact, and observations of the mentee and/or peers.

Stages of Mentoring

The program involves three stages:

  • Stage 1: Staff new to SCRED regardless of previous experience
  • Stage 2: Staff in their second year at SCRED who are still probationary (or who require mentoring beyond their probationary year)
  • Stage 3: Staff in their third year at SCRED who are still probationary

Process

Please consult our Mentoring Program Handbook for a complete explanation.

Checklists

Every mentor and mentee makes a copy of a checklist template in order to document their meetings, observations, and other components of the program. These templates are linked below:

Agenda

Mentors and mentees can use any a agenda format they'd like to take notes during check-in meetings, but we do offer this running agenda template as an option.

Brightspace Course

Mentors submit their checklists throughout the year using the program's Brightspace course. The course also contains several slide presentations that provide more information about the program.
