Taking the GED Test

• 2024: Sept. 3, 11, 17; Oct. 9, 16, 22; Nov. 6, 13, 26; Dec. 4, 10
• 2025: Jan. 8, 21; Feb. 12, 18; March 5, 11, 25; April 2, 15, 29; May 14, 20, 27

2. Location — select: St. Croix River Education District, 425 S. Dana Ave. Rush City, MN 55069
   
3. Test Hours: 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM on all specified dates.

Arrival

Building doors remain locked throughout the day. There is a doorbell located to the left of the main doors. Ring the doorbell and a SCRED employee will escort you into the building.

Identification

• Government-issued driver's license
• Passport
• Learner's permit
• Military ID
• State ID or any other Government-issued ID

Closures and Cancellations 

Building closures due to weather conditions will be broadcasted on the four local News weather stations. If you are running late or cannot make it to your exam please contact us.

Test Specifications

1. Reasoning Through Language Arts (RLA) (150 minutes)
   • Section 1 (27 minutes*)
   • Section 2 (45 minutes)
   • Student Break (10 minutes)
   • Section 3 (60 minutes*)
   * The time allotted for sections 1 and 3 may vary slightly, but the total test time will always be 150 minutes.
2. Mathematical Reasoning (115 minutes)
   • Part 1 (first 5 test questions) calculator not allowed
   • Part 2 - (remaining 41 test questions) calculator allowed
3. Science (90 minutes)
4. Social Studies (70 minutes)

FAQs

How old do I need to be to take the test (without exceptions)?
In Minnesota, the minimum age required to take the GED® test is 19 years old.     

Do I need to prove I’m a resident of Minnesota to take the test?
In Minnesota, there is no residency requirement. 

The closest testing center is in a different state. Can I take the exam there?
Minnesota doesn’t have a residency requirement, so they’ll allow you to take the GED® test there.  

How much does the GED® test on cost?
Minnesota charges $36 per GED® test module. Voucher codes may be available. Contact one of our instructors for additional information.

Can I take all of the parts at once or do I need to setup different appointment times?
Yes, in Minnesota you can take all test parts in the same day if you can find a testing center with hours that accommodate it. Please note that SCRED meets this accommodation.
